Bev Friend has more than 30 years in business and senior management from buying, marketing, publishing as well as developing and operating several successful small businesses. Bev now helps teams, professionals and business owners achieve peak performance. She coaches and advises on business strategy, adds value and attractiveness to a business, team communication and performance, HR issues, professional development and much more. She runs workshops for team communication underpinned by DISC Profiling, helps business performance using one of the best systems globally with the MAUS software to enhance business performance and is an accredited MAUS Business Coach. She is an engaging facilitator, trainer, coach and MC for various events.
Bev is also passionate out connecting people and helping them achieve their goals; she is a master networker and President of the Melbourne Business Network…..and loves Melbourne, it’s energy, it’s opportunities and the way we do business through building relationships.
VICE PRESIDENT – LIBBY DALE
Libby is Co-founder & Customer Officer at SmartMeasures, a Melbourne based company that helps large businesses keep their customers happy. SmartMeasures offers a world first solution using AI (artificial intelligence) and Big Data to predict which customers are going to leave the business before they even realise it themselves, then help the business to reach out and stop them from leaving. With 30+ years of professional experience in Melbourne, Libby joined the MBN Committee in 2017 to help build connections and relationships between local business owners to support each other and help all of our businesses to thrive.
SECRETARY/TREASURER – BRIAN JONES
Bsc(Econ)Hons, FCA, MBA, Grad Dip Tax, Grad Cert Forensic Studies(Monash), Registered Company Auditor, Registered SMSF Auditor.
Brian Jones has thirty-eight years experience in corporate, professional accounting, taxation, audit and business advisory fields. He has been in practice in Melbourne as an accountant, business advisor and forensic accountant since 1989. Prior to this he was with BP Australia in accounting policy and systems, corporate accounting and corporate treasury roles. Brian originated from Touche Ross in London, Birmingham and Geneva.
He now specialises in strategic planning, taxation, management and forensic accounting. He has worked in a wide variety of industries from international to small business. He has been involved in many Court assignments including Family Court, Federal Magistrates Court, County Court, Federal and the Supreme Courts of Victoria and N.S.W. “My main reason for joining the Committee was to help small business in Melbourne”
Having worked across both Australia and New Zealand, Wendi has an extensive background in consulting, sales, leadership development and strategy. Her passion and focus have been to work with organisations to achieve their strategic growth goals and hone their greatest competitive advantage – their people. One of her fundamental beliefs is that to achieve significant success and growth you must focus on the customer experience and outcome – continually delivering a better service today than yesterday.
Wendi joined the Committee of the Melbourne Business Network in October 2018. She is passionate about supporting the development of businesses – start-ups, scale-ups, SMEs, corporate – within Melbourne.
Lisa brings twenty years international marketing and commercial experience spanning the UK, Australasia, Europe, Asia Pacific and the USA, balanced across multinational, blue chip organisations and world-leading brand, data and digital agencies. Today when she’s not undertaking her commitments to the Melbourne Business Network, she’s helping other businesses grow through her brand and marketing consultancy, Emmet Consulting.
Lisa’s experience spans all facets of the marketing mix, including the identification and initiation of major brand, product and business transformation programmes as well as extensive data and digital work. She brings thought leadership and strategic best practice from diverse industry sectors and leading global brands across retail banking, quick and fresh service retail, grocery, travel, energy and white goods retail, entertainment, general insurance, biotec, B2B markets and numerous Not-For-Profits.
Frank has a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Law from Monash University. He has worked as a lawyer for more than 33 years.
Frank has expertise in small business law, including extensive experience in contractual disputes, corporate advisory and commercial transactional work, franchising law, insolvency, employment law, property law, planning law, and building and construction law. Frank is a member of the Committee because he is passionate about small business and start-ups.
Travis Knipe is the co-owner and Chief Executive Officer of StarRez. Travis oversees all aspects of the business including the product management, customer experience, business development, financials and the user community. Travis has a proven track record with international expansion helping StarRez grow into more than 20 international countries with more than 750 customers managing over 1.7 million residence beds with StarRez Housing Software globally. Travis is passionate about ensuring his team and customer community are happy and that his products continue to evolve and stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technology and customer needs.
Gerry is a Lending Manager at First Financial Pty Ltd ,with a Diploma of Finance (Mortgage Broking Management), a member of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) as an Accredited Credit Advisor.
She has over 18 years’ experience within the Banking and Finance Industry and specialises in all forms of Lending including Business, Commercial, SMSF borrowing, Re-finance, Asset finance and has extensive contacts in the Industry. This empowers her to efficiently source the right solutions for her clients.
Gerry treasure’s Melbourne and all that it offers such as world class dining, cafes, performing arts, fashion boutiques, beautiful arcades. Saunter through the cobblestone laneways and you will discover a jazz club, wine bar, a gallery of street art and so much more.
